Webinar 6: Perspectives and costing in health economic evaluations: overview of methodologies with a focus on societal approach.
Presenter: A/Prof An Duy Tran and Mr Paul Amores (MISCH)
Date: Thursday, 17th of October
Time: 12.30-1.30 pm
About the topic: The choice of a costing approach, ranging from a narrow healthcare payer perspective to a broader societal perspective that includes all resources, can significantly influence the cost-effectiveness decision-making. However, many cost-effectiveness studies suffer from a lack the transparency regarding their perspectives and costing methods or incorrectly claim certain perspectives. Additionally, there is a variation in how the perspectives and types of costs are defined in the literature. In this seminar, A/Prof An Duy Tran and Mr Paul Amores will provide an overview of the perspective and costing approaches used in health economic evaluations, with a particular focus on the societal perspective, which is increasingly being adopted.
