The first International Women’s Day was held in March 1911, representing a collective shift towards global activism and women’s empowerment in the workforce.

Join NHMRC for an early celebration of International Women’s Day 2024, with a Speaking of Science webinar hosted by NHMRC’s General Manager and Inclusion Champion, Prue Torrance, you’ll hear from a live panel of Research Committee Members:

  • Ms Christine Gunson (Expert in consumer issues and human resources)
  • Professor Yvette Roe (Professor in Indigenous Health and Co-director of the Molly Wardaguga Research Centre, Charles Darwin University)
  • Mary Overton Senior Research Fellow at the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute,
  • Professor Frances Kay Lambkin (Director, Hunter Medical Research Institute and Chair, NHMRC Women in Health Science Committee).

The panel will discuss the 2024 theme of International Women’s Day, Inspire Inclusion, particularly focusing on NHMRC’s role in funding outstanding female researchers across Australia’s health and medical research sector.
