Research with impact.
We connect and support health researchers, clinicians and the community to deliver rapid improvements in healthcare and health outcomes for all Tasmanians
The Tasmanian Collaboration for Health Improvement is a Research Translation Centre.
Health research is vital for improving the lives of Tasmanians, but it can take years for the benefits of research to flow through to the community. We are a research translation centre that brings together the Tasmanian Department of Health, Primary Health Tasmania, Health Consumers Tasmania, and The University of Tasmania.
What we do
We strengthen and accelerate research impact by:
Translating Research
We translate Tasmanian health needs and priorities into aligned research that can be rapidly implemented by:
- Developing an agreed research agenda that aligns with the health needs of Tasmanians
- Endorsing and supporting local and aligned research
- Providing specific in-kind support to translate findings into tangible health benefits.
Supporting People
We support and train clinicians, consumers and researchers to maximise their impact by:
- Sharing capability building activities and relevant resources
- Providing a clear pathway for research involvement
- Supporting and delivering Tasmanian events, mentoring, and fellowships.
Enabling Research
We enable greater collaboration and partnerships between consumers, communities, researchers, clinicians, policy makers and decision makers by:
- Facilitating networking opportunities and events
- Brokering new research linkages and connections
- Working together to break down local research barriers.
How we can help you
The support that we provide is tailored to your work context:

Policy makers
We align research agendas with policy priorities to drive evidence-based policymaking.

Consumers
We support consumer involvement in all stages of research design and implementation.

Clinicians
